Hey guys, have you heard about the Obama Presidential Center? It’s supposed to be this huge symbol of progress and hope, but it’s actually a disaster for the residents of South Chicago.
The project has caused median home prices to double and rents to skyrocket, leaving many residents worried about being priced out of their homes. Despite calls for affordable housing, the Obama Foundation has done nothing to address the concerns of the community.
And let’s not forget the impact on small businesses in the area. With construction disrupting traffic and causing chaos, many are struggling to stay afloat.
It’s clear that the Obama Presidential Center is not being built with the needs of the community in mind. Instead, it’s just another example of politicians and developers putting their own interests ahead of the people they are supposed to serve.
As a high school student, I may not know everything about politics, but I know that this is wrong. We need to do more to support underserved communities like South Chicago and prioritize policies that benefit all Americans, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
