Let’s face it, politics can be boring. But when it comes to Kamala Harris’ communication blunders, it’s hard not to take notice. As a high schooler, I may not have a ton of experience with politics, but I do know that communication is key – and that’s where Harris is struggling.
From her confusing speeches to awkward word salads, it seems like Harris can’t catch a break. Even The Daily Show, a staunch supporter of the Democrats, couldn’t ignore it, posting a hilarious “Veep reboot” of Harris. Now, with the start of their reelection campaign, Team Biden is on a mission to “repair” Harris’ image ahead of what is expected to be an uphill and brutal campaign.
But let’s be real – Harris is not in her position because of any great talent she supposedly has as a great communicator and effective politician. Rather, she’s there because Democrats demanded that Joe Biden pick a woman of color as his running mate. While there were other black women he could have picked with more experience to serve as vice president, he chose Harris, one of many poor decisions he’s made both as a presidential candidate and then president.
As a high schooler, I may not have a lot of experience with politics, but I do know that when it comes to communication, actions speak louder than words. And when it comes to Harris, her actions – or lack thereof – speak volumes. Her communication blunders make it difficult for her to connect with average American voters, which is why she’s a liability for Team Biden.
It’s time for Democrats to face the facts and realize that Harris may not be the best choice for vice president. While it’s important to have diversity in politics, it’s even more important to have competent and effective leaders who can communicate with the American people. And when it comes to Harris, it’s clear that she’s not living up to that standard.
