President Biden hinted at his intentions to seek re-election in 2024 during a press conference in Ireland, stating that he had already made the necessary calculations on whether to run or not. The President’s comments came before boarding Air Force One to return to Delaware, following his visit to the European country.
When asked if his recent trip to Ireland had influenced his decision, the President stated that he had made up his mind already, adding that an announcement on his plans for 2024 would be made “relatively soon.”
Biden’s comments were in line with earlier statements from White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who said that the President “intends to run” for president again in 2024. First Lady Jill Biden also hinted at her husband’s re-election plans earlier this year.
Despite the President’s intentions, he has yet to make a formal announcement of his candidacy. However, he has already attracted two long-shot challengers in the Democratic primary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Marianne Williamson.
