President Joe Biden has once again avoided the press, as it was announced that he will not hold a press conference during his entire trip to Ireland. This decision has outraged White House reporters, who have been peppering White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre with questions about why the president is not speaking to the press.
Gray TV reporter Jon Decker had a particularly contentious back-and-forth with Jean-Pierre, where he mentioned that former President Donald Trump took questions from reporters often. He also mentioned that former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama all took questions often.
This is yet another example of the Biden administration’s lack of transparency and accountability. While Biden may take shouted questions from reporters, it is simply not enough. The American people deserve to hear from their president in a formal press conference, where he can be asked important questions about domestic and foreign policy issues.
It is clear that the mainstream media is not holding Biden accountable for his lack of press conferences, particularly on MSNBC and CNN. If this were any other president, it would be a scandal. But instead, it is barely reported.
