House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has voiced his strong opposition to appointing a special counsel in the federal probe into Hunter Biden. Comer firmly believes that the investigation should remain under the purview of his committee, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.
Recently, the House Ways and Means Committee released testimony from IRS whistleblowers who alleged interference from officials at the Justice Department, FBI, and IRS in the investigation into Hunter Biden. These allegations raised concerns about the influence of politics on the decision-making process.
While Hunter Biden has reached a plea deal on charges related to tax evasion and firearm possession, Chairman Comer argues that a special counsel appointed by the Biden administration would undermine transparency.
He trusts the House Oversight Committee to lead the investigation effectively, having already uncovered significant information within a short span of five months.
Chairman Comer further expressed his doubts about the integrity of Attorney General Merrick Garland, describing him as “corrupt” and accusing him of lying to the American people. Garland denied any improper interference in the Hunter Biden investigation, but the IRS whistleblowers testified that U.S. Attorney David Weiss faced constant limitations and marginalization.
The committee is actively utilizing Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive as a valuable resource in their investigation. Chairman Comer affirmed that they have the hard drive and are diligently interviewing the individuals the IRS wanted to interview. The committee also plans to call Hunter Biden’s business associate, Devon Archer, for testimony.
Additionally, the committee is examining whether Hunter Biden violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act and looking into an FBI-generated FD-1023 form alleging President Biden’s involvement in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national.
Chairman Comer remains committed to bringing in more individuals and obtaining additional bank records to shed light on Joe Biden’s alleged involvement in questionable family business schemes.
Despite the White House’s denial of President Biden’s participation in his son’s business dealings, the House Oversight Committee aims to uncover the truth and ensure transparency in this vital investigation.
