The administration had passed a rule demanding the registration of these firearm accessories. Advocates of the Second Amendment opine that such braces make handguns safer. However, the rule came after a few tragic incidents involving pistol braces.
A group from Texas, consisting of two gun owners, a gun rights group, and a dealer, opposed this move by filing a lawsuit. Their efforts bore fruit when the court indicated the rule’s likelihood of faltering against legal scrutiny. Judge Jerry Smith of the appeals court emphasized the importance of consistent law application and has further extended the block on this rule, sending the case back for additional examination.
