This Congresswoman’s Campaign Spending Raises Eyebrows, You’ll Be Shocked

A new scandal involving Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has surfaced, and it’s raising serious questions about her campaign finances. According to a recent ethics complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the New York Congresswoman used campaign donations to reimburse herself for thousands of dollars in alleged expenses that were never properly explained or disclosed.

The conservative Coolidge Reagan Foundation filed the complaint, citing $9,600 in reported credit card expenditures that the notorious “Squad” member claims to have personally spent on resources relating to her reelection.

The expenditures were incomplete and did not detail a purpose as required under FEC laws. This is just the latest in a long line of questionable actions by AOC.

The complaint alleges that AOC repeatedly violated federal campaign finance law to conceal how she spent thousands of dollars of campaign funds.

On numerous occasions throughout 2022, AOC for Congress reported tens of thousands of dollars of disbursements for card payments and card payment reimbursements to Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez herself; American Express; and an entity called ‘Beyond!,’ which appears to have provided virtual reality services and apparently no longer operates under that name.

These reports do not fully disclose the purposes of each payment for which the charge card was used. Although campaigns are permitted to use charge cards for otherwise permissible campaign-related expenses, their disclosure reports must accurately identify both the recipient of those funds, as well as each of the campaign-related goods and services those charge cards were used to purchase. AOC’s actions raise serious questions about the legality of her campaign finances.

AOC has already faced scrutiny for her attendance at 2021 Met Gala in New York, where she wore an ivory wool jacket dress emblazoned with “Tax the Rich” printed on its backside.

The Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) reprimanded her for likely violating “standards of conduct” and “federal law” with “impermissible gifts” relating to her attendance at the event. Ethics watchdogs concluded her decision to pay for the dress, lodging, and transportation to the event may not have been made were it not for the investigation.

It’s clear that AOC has a history of questionable actions when it comes to campaign finances. Republicans need to stand together and demand accountability from AOC and her allies. We cannot allow the radical left to continue to flout the law and engage in unethical behavior.
