Stormy Daniels, the adult film star involved in a hush-money case with former President Donald Trump, has recently been accused of extortion by Rich Lowry, editor-in-chief of the National Review. Lowry’s article argues that Stormy Daniels’s demand for $130,000 in hush money during the 2016 campaign was an extortionate demand and that Trump paid the amount because it was worth it to him to make the story go away.
The allegations against Trump involve his purported role in the hush money payments to Daniels before the 2016 election. However, legal experts have deemed the case brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg as weak.
The accusations against Daniels for extortion come after the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals awarded Trump $121,962.56 in attorney fees from Daniels.
The ruling is separate from the Manhattan case where Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 charges regarding allegations of falsifying business records.
