California Governor Gavin Newsom is the new king of failed policies (well, maybe second to New York’s Andrew Cuomo after the whole CoVid-19 nursing home disaster). Newsom is a pretty boy who seems to be someone who hasn’t met a failed leftist political idea that he doesn’t like and, therefore, advocate.
Think I’m kidding? I’m not. The economy in California is in tatters after his lockdown of the state (allowing himself and close friends to not comply with the lockdowns, of course), and people are fleeing that state in droves.
Now, a sheriff in his own state has, basically, called out Newsom. Not directly, mind you, but indirectly by admitting how terrible the effects of Newsom’s policies have been. Jamie Joseph writes,
In an unusual move, Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva has sent a letter to the Board of Supervisors urging them to declare a local state of emergency to address the spiraling homelessness crisis in the county, citing an increase in crime, lack of sanitation, and struggling businesses.
“We’ve been inundated with calls, with concerns, with images from the news, from people picking up the phone, emailing, sending us letters, about what’s going on in Venice,” Villanueva told reporters during a press conference inside the Justice Hall on June 23. “And that is a microcosm of what’s going on throughout the entire county of Los Angeles.”
“Enough is enough, we need to kick this into high gear,” he said.
There’s an estimated 200 homeless people on the Venice Beach Boardwalk and 2,000 throughout the neighborhood, making it the second largest concentration of homeless people after Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. The area has been getting primary attention recently from Villanueva and the sheriffs’ Homeless Outreach and Services Team (HOST).
Now, with homelessness and crime rates increasing, you may be wondering what is causing this terrible result in California?
Well, considering that you never hear about these kinds of issues in areas which aren’t run by Democrats and considering that Democrats have, basically, run California for years, the conclusion isn’t a hard one to reach: Democrat policies, such as the policies put forth by Newsom, are the obvious problem, and the solution is to put responsible leaders (that would be non-leftists) into power to fix the problems.
Sadly, considering we’re talking about California here, I have my doubts that the real solution will happen there.
