Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar sure knows how to stir the pot, and if her goal is to stay in the media spotlight, then she’s been successful.
She’s also been as unAmerican as Karl Marx or Stalin, and, frankly, she needs to take her leftist values and leave the U.S.
Apparently, I’m not the only person who thinks that, and a key Republican in Congress made no bones about Republican plans to take Omar down a notch as soon as they can. Zachary Stieber writes,
Republicans will kick Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) off the House Foreign Affairs Committee if the GOP regains control of the lower chamber in the 2022 midterm elections, according to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
“I will promise you this,” McCarthy said on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday. “If we are fortunate enough to have the majority, Omar would not be serving on Foreign Affairs, or anybody that has an anti-Semitic, anti-American view. That is not productive and that is not right.”
Republicans, and some Democrats, became upset after Omar equated the United States and Israel with designated terror groups.
“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” Omar wrote in a recent tweet.
Now, if it isn’t immediately obvious to you why people were upset with Omar about this tweet, think about who Omar lumped the U.S. and Israel in with: the Taliban and Hamas, two organizations which have been accused of terrorism repeatedly. You don’t even have to be a fan of the U.S. or Israel to realize that this comparison isn’t accurate and goes too far. Terrorism is unacceptable.
So, unlike Nancy Pelosi, McCarthy made it clear that, given the chance, Republicans are going to make sure that AOC’s pal, Omar, has less influence in Congress than ever.
