Giant tech companies in America want to completely soak up people’s attention. They want to own people’s attention.
Now, some may argue that the reason for this is so that they can generate money through ad revenue. No doubt, there is truth to that.
But Facebook’s newest move has nothing to do with add revenue. No, it’s about controlling people’s thinking, about manipulating people in the same way that the Chinese Communist Party works to control people through a “social capital” system. Jack Phillips gives us the details:
Some Facebook users have recently reported being sent warning messages from the social media giant relating to “extremists” or “extremist content.”
“Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremist?” one message reads. “We care about preventing extremism on Facebook. Others in your situation have received confidential support.”
The message also provides a button to “Get Support,” which leads to another Facebook page about extremism.
Redstate editor Kira Davis, who said was sent a screenshot of the message from a friend, wrote: “Hey has anyone had this message pop up on their FB? My friend (who is not an ideologue but hosts lots of competing chatter) got this message twice. He’s very disturbed.”
That’s right, Facebook is now trying to warn you (and your kids) that their friends may not have “acceptable” viewpoints on things. Translation: Facebook is telling you (and your kids) to stay away from those “dangerous” conservatives who only want freedom for people instead of wanting to keep us safe under the protection of our Big Tech and liberal government overlords. So, you should stay away from those people.
Now, certainly, there will be some people that you’ll want to stay away from on Facebook and in the real world, but you don’t need Facebook to tell you who those people are. They just open their mouths, and you get the clue pretty quickly.
The biggest danger here is that clueless leftists will think that this social media shunning of people with beliefs that don’t fit the Facebook-approved leftist position is a good thing and that kids who haven’t, yet, developed discernment will think that these Facebook warnings are based on anything but disagreement with political conservatives.
Shame on Facebook for trying to make shunning people acceptable just because those people choose note to toe the leftist party line.
