Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered a new investigation into Disney after the theme park corporation struck a deal with the Reedy Creek Improvement District board.
DeSantis has demanded the state chief inspector general investigate the board for any legal or ethical violations in relation to their conduct before the state takeover of the district.
The probe will focus on whether or not Disney followed the law and will also determine the qualifications of the board members. This new investigation builds upon an existing fight between Disney and the state, which has been ongoing for many months.
DeSantis’ office says Disney just keeps trying to maneuver for “special corporate benefits and dodge Florida law,” while Disney says the state is abusing its authority.
This corporate vs. state battle will determine whether Disney has been following the law and whether it has been trying to gain special corporate treatment.
