Joe Biden has said some really disturbing things over the years. Typically, though, those cringe-inducing statements were either blatantly racist statements or were him fawning over underage girls and wanting to smell their hair.
Now, though, Biden really hit a nerve while he was pushing for more gun control on the Federal level by saying that supporters of the Second Amendment should rethink their Constitutional stance on gun rights because, to take on the government, you’ll need F-15s and nuclear weapons. I’m not kidding (hat tip to here for the lead).
Maybe he meant it as a way to dismiss the usefulness of guns to deal with a tyrannical government, but, at the same time, he implied that he would be willing to use nuclear weapons against American citizens. If you didn’t hear about that, you can see that video below, queued up to the point where he makes the implied threat.
Of course, political conservatives and supporters of the Second Amendment went after Biden about the threat, as well they should. Biden is the sitting President of the United States. His job is to protect our rights, not to try to take our rights and threaten our very lives to take those rights.
As at least one person observed, Biden is showing exactly why the Second Amendment was needed in the first place. (Another wryly observed that the people downplaying the usefulness of guns against government are the same people who think that a bunch of unarmed Trump supporters nearly overthrew the government on January 6, 2021).
Possibly the sharpest edge response, though, came from Donald Trump, Jr. who tweeted:
Our founders explicitly wanted an armed citizenry to keep potentially tyrannical governments in check.
Instead of threatening to nuke law-abiding American citizens, maybe this doddering old fool should ask himself why crime is rising so rapidly in cities w/ the most gun control?
Ouch. Trump, Jr. nailed him, and he was right on point. Instead of trying to take guns from law-abiding Americans, why isn’t Biden trying to solve problems that actually exist instead of playing on the fears of delusion liberals?
