Tara Reade, a former staffer for Joe Biden, has accused the President of sexual assault. Despite Biden staffers from the time not recalling any such incident being reported, Reade is willing to testify under oath and provide Congress with whatever information they need.
She claims that if Biden staffers were required to testify under oath, they would have to admit to something different.
Rep. Lauren Boebert has expressed support for a formal inquiry by Congress into Reade’s allegations. Multiple people have corroborated parts of Reade’s story since she first spoke out in 2020.
Her allegations are serious and need to be properly investigated. It’s important to take allegations of sexual assault seriously, regardless of who the accused is.
The #MeToo movement has brought to light the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in our society, and it’s crucial that we hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
While it’s important to give the accused the benefit of the doubt, it’s equally important to give the accuser the opportunity to be heard and to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
We must not allow our political affiliations to cloud our judgment and prevent us from seeking the truth.
