Another Retailer Adopts Extreme Measures To Battle San Francisco’s Crime Problem

San Francisco has once again made headlines for all the wrong reasons. A Target store has recently implemented extreme security measures by placing every single product behind security glass. The reason?

Crime and shoplifting rates have skyrocketed in the Bay Area, leaving retailers with no choice but to take drastic measures to protect their products.

As reported by the San Francisco Standard, retail theft has become a significant issue in the area, prompting local law enforcement to increase patrols in popular shopping areas. But apparently, stealing in San Francisco has become a favorite pastime.

In a recent TikTok video, a customer documented the extreme security measures at the Target store. It’s a sad state of affairs when retailers are forced to take such extreme measures just to protect their products.

This is just the latest example of the ongoing struggle with crime and security issues in San Francisco. In 2019, a Walgreens store in the city was forced to close due to rampant theft, with shoplifters reportedly stealing up to five times a day.

The store had implemented security measures such as locking up certain items and using security guards, but the theft continued.

It’s time for the city’s leaders to take action to address this growing problem. Retailers should not have to resort to such extreme measures just to protect their products. It’s time for San Francisco to take a hard look at its crime and security issues and come up with real solutions to keep its residents and businesses safe.
